08 July 2025 welcome
We are pleased to announce that new PhD students have accepted positions in the RTG.
We welcome Jule Godbersen, Oliver Kraus, and Magnus Cunow into the RTG. They will join our growing team of PhD students in September 2025. We look forward to working with them!

Jule Godbersen studied Computational Linguistics at the University of Stuttgart, where her research focused on the interplay between language and vision in multimodal systems. Her work explored how integrating multiple modalities supports modeling meaning - from state changes in actions to semantic compositionality. Currently, her interests lie in exploring how deep learning models can represent object transformations, aiming to create richer semantic understanding. |
Magnus is pursuing his Master’s in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence at Saarland University. His work focuses on neuro-explicit models for sequential decision-making, exploring how structural information can support learning and generalization in complex environments. | ![]() |

Oliver is about to complete his Master’s in Computational Linguistics at LMU Munich. Previously, he studied Computer Science at the University of Würzburg and Trinity College Dublin. His research interests focus on multimodal grounding and efficient language acquisition of language models. |
Aleksandra is completing her Master’s in Language Science and Technology at Saarland University. Previously, she studied Applied Mathematics and Computer Science at HSE University. Her research interests lie in understanding the inner workings of LLMs and developing tools to make the mechanisms inside these models more transparent. | ![]() |
