We welcome Jan Eric Lenssen, who will join the RTG as a principal investigator in the area of vision.

Jan Eric Lenssen is a Professor of Computer Science (W3) at Saarland University and Associated Faculty at the Max Planck Institute for Informatics, where he previously led a research group. His research spans geometric and graph deep learning, 3D computer vision, and generative modeling. He is the co-creator of PyTorch Geometric (PyG), today the most widely used graph neural network library, which also became the technical foundation of kumo.ai, a Mountain View-based startup for relational deep learning where he was a founding team member. His work has been recognized with the DAGM German Pattern Recognition Award, an Emmy Noether Group Leader Grant, the ECVA PhD Award, and paper awards/nominations at ECCV and CVPR.
